Another year has come and gone, but as far as Tad Christie is concerned life is anything but looking in the rearview mirror. Christie has been a contender in the Homeless World Cup for over 3 years and intends to take homeless Team USA to the Finals this year. Over the past few months, I have done countless hours of research and will be putting together a team of my own in the sub-league Washington DC division. In order to be eligable you must:
1) Be at least 16yrs old at the time of the tournament
2) Have been homeless at least at some point after the previous year's World Cup
3) Make your main living as a streetpaper vendor
4) Be asylum seekers
Any one of the above qualifies you as eligable for the tournament. For Tad Christie, he has both sold newspapers and been homeless for the past 3 years in Austin & Dallas, TX before recently relocating to the Maryland suburbs of DC. In his own words, he's "been living on the edge" for longer than he thought he would. Although homeless, Christie is a strong believer in fate over free will and is determined that he is here today for a reason: To become a winner.
