Singer/Songwriter Regina Spektor was the headlining act of the annual celebration of Israel's Birthday on the National Mall in Washington DC this June 1, 2008. Although she was nervous (at many times forgetting lyrics), she put on an astounding performance in front of 50,000 people who attended the event. Spektor performed hits such as "Better" and "Fidelity", while also entertaining the crowd with less known songs from her previous recordings. The show lasted the better half of an hour and ended with an encore that sent the audience back home with admiration of the talented young artist from New York City. During the performance, Spektor took a brief hiatus to discuss her Jewish background and immigrating to NYC from Russia/USSR in the early 1990's.
